Yamaha SG-RR Custom | 1989 Made in Japan

A rare Japanese domestic market model built between 1989 and 1991, the SG-RR Custom is a lightweight, thin-body alternative to Yamaha's heavier standard SG line, built entirely from African mahogany. What sets the Custom variant apart is its flat hardtail bridge with individual piezo elements under each saddle, blended via a mini-toggle switch with the magnetic Alnico V humbuckers for anything from thick humbucker tone through to acoustic-style piezo simulation, with rear-cavity EQ sliders to fine-tune the blend further. It's beautifully preserved for a guitar this old, with light finish chips and pitting on the front and minor oxidation on the hardware appropriate for its age, but the active preamp and piezo system both function perfectly.
