Yamaha SG1000 | 1982 Made in Japan

$1,900.00Price

1982 Yamaha SG1000 made in Japan at the Nippon Gakki plant. Mahogany body with carved maple top. 3-piece mahogany/maple set neck. Ebony fingerboard with mother of pearl split block inlays. Original Alnico V humbuckers with push-push coil-splitting. Gold hardware. 4.3kg. Gig bag included.

The SG1000 is often referred to as a "Les Paul Killer" for its heavy, resonant mahogany build and exceptional sustain. The Cherry Sunburst finish has held up well. The 6-digit serial number dates this example to 1982.

The push-push tone knobs split the pickups to single-coil mode, giving you extra versatility without modifying the guitar. The ebony fingerboard adds snap and clarity.

Sound and Tone

Alnico V humbuckers deliver thick, sustaining tone with mid-range punch. The push-push coil-split gives you single-coil snap and clarity at the push of a button. Ebony fingerboard adds brightness and definition.

Feel and Playability

3-piece set neck with comfortable profile. Ebony fingerboard is smooth and fast. Minor fretwear but plays cleanly. Solid, heavy 4.3kg body adds sustain.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. No milky finish clouding (common on 1980s Yamahas). Front face and headstock are exceptionally clean with only minor scuffs and swirls. Ebony fretboard is well preserved with minor fretwear. Gold hardware has vintage patina with light tarnish. Multi-ply binding has aged to amber cream. Sides and lower back have deeper scratches, minor edge wear, and small lacquer chips from honest use. Structurally flawless and solid.
