During the 1970s, Maton operated out of its factory on Canterbury Road in Canterbury, Victoria. The workshop balanced handcrafted acoustic instruments with distinct electric guitars and amplifiers for the Australian market. The production techniques refined during this era laid the groundwork for the brand's later expansion. The Canterbury factory was Maton's home for 40 years, from 1949 until 1989.
