Gibson Les Paul Special SL with Humbuckers, 1998 (USA)
This Gibson Les Paul Special SL has a neck that's a breeze to play, smooth the whole way up with nothing sticky about it, gliding easily up and down the fretboard. The original Gibson 490R and 498T humbucker pickups cover a lot of ground too, equally happy cranking out rock tones or sitting back into something sweeter and jazzier.
It's a solid flat slab mahogany body, no maple cap, with a belly cut on the back that's specific to the SL line rather than the vintage-spec Specials. The neck is set-in, one-piece mahogany, cut to a slimmer, faster '60s profile rather than the chunkier '50s neck found on the P-90 versions.
Condition is immaculate, almost no wear anywhere on it bar a small marking on the back of the neck. No noticeable fret wear, and the action's great, ready to go straight out of the box.
