Gibson L-48 – 1962
A beautiful example of a 1962 Gibson L-48, a golden-age archtop that’s becoming increasingly hard to find in this kind of condition. The grain on the mahogany top is stunning—rich, straight, and full of character—matched by equally vibrant mahogany back and sides for that bright, articulate, highly responsive L-48 voice.
This example features a comfortable early-’60s neck with a rosewood fingerboard (Brazilian), dot inlays, and the L-48 ink stamp visible inside the upper F-hole.
It has been refretted but otherwise left untouched, keeping its honest history intact. All hardware is original, with only light, era-appropriate tarnish. The body is in exceptional cosmetic condition. This guitar may have had a top coat respray.
A rare, clean vintage archtop with standout tone & playability and exceptional charm.
This is a wonderful piece; it sounds and plays so well. Great action - smooth and easy - strung with flat wounds.
