Fender Stratocaster ST72-70 (Made in Japan, A-Serial) | 1986
An early guitar from Fender Japan's history, built at the Fujigen factory during what's widely regarded as Fender Japan's golden age. This example carries an A-serial number and was internally stamped as a CST-50M model variant before being upgraded to full ST72-70 production status — a genuine factory detail that came with premium USA electronics fitted well above the standard domestic-market spec.
It carries all the hallmarks of a '70s-style Stratocaster: 3-bolt neck plate, large headstock, bullet truss rod, and big CBS-style Fender branding. The Sen ash body wears a classic Olympic White finish, paired with a maple neck in an oval profile, rosewood fretboard, 7.25" radius, and 42mm nut width. The factory USA ST-Classic pickups, run through 2 tone controls, 1 volume, and a 5-way switch, give it a bright, articulate voice.
Condition is good for a guitar approaching 40 years old: very little fret wear, a small indent to the back of the neck (shown in photos, doesn't affect playability), some minor scuffs to the top of the body, and a small amount of finish loss at the neck/body cutaway (also shown in photos).
