Fender Japan ST57-58US Stratocaster (CIJ) | 1998-2000

A '57 reissue built during the esteemed Tokai/Dyna Gakki "Crafted in Japan" era, made for the Japanese domestic market with a genuine step up in factory spec. The "-58US" suffix tells the story: this one left the factory with USA Vintage single-coil pickups and full-sized CTS pots rather than the cheaper hardware fitted to standard CIJ models, paired with a historically accurate 8-hole single-ply pickguard and clean Vintage White finish.
 
The basswood body carries a one-piece maple neck with skunk stripe, in a slim-to-medium "C"/oval profile with a 7.25" fretboard radius and 21 vintage-style frets — a genuinely comfortable, period-correct feel. Those factory-fitted USA Vintage single coils with staggered pole pieces, run through full-sized CTS pots and a 5-way selector, are a large part of why the -58US variant is sought after over a standard CIJ Strat. Hardware is all vintage-style: a chrome synchronised tremolo bridge and Kluson-style slotted tuners, under a small pre-CBS headstock with the gold spaghetti logo.
Condition is exceptional for its age: the headstock is clean and the maple neck is pristine with no fretwear at all. The body shows only minor, honest handling — a few small indentations directly below the bridge, one distinct finish chip on the back tip of the upper horn, and light ongoing marks around the lower edges and body contours.
