Yamaha FG-240 Green Label | MIJ, 1972

$800.00Price

Straight out of the early-70s Green Label era that's earned vintage Yamahas such a strong cult following, this 1972 FG-240 is a genuinely impressive survivor, finding one in this kind of condition is rare. The solid spruce top has aged into a deep golden patina over the last fifty-plus years while staying remarkably clean, paired with mahogany back and sides and tied together with crisp, multi-ply cream and black binding around the top and back edges.

Tone is rich, warm and highly resonant, with a punchy, upfront midrange and a sweet, focused low end that balances nicely across a full chord. The rosewood fretboard feels smooth under the fingers, bordered by white neck binding and simple pearl dot inlays. There's no visible fretwear, so it plays as cleanly as it likely did the day it left the factory, equally suited to flatpicked bluegrass lines or heavier strummed folk chords.

Structurally solid and visually excellent for a guitar pushing fifty-plus years old.

Comes with its original hard case.
