Martin OM-28V Vintage Series (USA) | 1999
The OM-28V is Martin's tribute to its own pre-war Orchestra Models — bold herringbone top trim, a Sitka spruce top with vintage aging toner, and scalloped X-bracing built to the original 1930s spec rather than the reinforced post-war pattern. This example is a genuine 1999 build from the Nazareth, Pennsylvania factory, made before Martin's later OM-28V reconfiguration, with a hand-carved Modified V neck profile from before Martin moved neck-carving to CNC.
Solid East Indian rosewood back and sides pair with that scalloped-braced spruce top for the OM's signature balance — more headroom and clarity than a dreadnought, without losing low-end weight. The long 25.4" scale and 1¾" nut give it a slightly firmer, more articulate feel under the fingers, and the ebony fingerboard and bridge are finished with the short-pattern abalone diamond and square inlays Martin uses on its higher Vintage Series models.
It's been fitted with an aftermarket K&K Sound pickup system — passive under-bridge plate transducers, well regarded for a natural, transparent acoustic signal rather than the harsher "piezo quack" of cheaper systems. Worth knowing going in: this is a modification, not a factory-stock pickup, and it turns what's already a serious vintage-spec acoustic into a genuinely gig-ready one.
Condition is very clean for its age, with only honest, light handling wear: a few small surface marks around the lower bout and one small mark under the strings between the bridge and soundhole, light superficial scratching on the back, and light dents and small nicks on the headstock front and back. The neck itself is in excellent shape — no fretwear, just a couple of very minor nicks on the back. Comes with its Original Hard Shell Case.
