Höfner 500/1 Vintage '62 Reissue Violin Bass | 2002 Germany

This 2002 500/1 reissues Höfner's original 1962 violin bass spec faithfully: a fully hollow spruce-topped body, flamed maple back and sides, and dual Staple humbucking pickups with the classic twin "tea-cup" control layout, so it delivers that warm, woody, percussive thump the shape is known for rather than a solid-body bass tone. The two-piece '62-profile neck has a rock-solid heel joint and low, comfortable action, and at 2.1kg it's remarkably light to hold. It's exceptionally clean for its age, with the original pickguard removed and stored safely in the case to prevent finish damage rather than lost, and it comes complete with original paperwork, a Höfner strap and spare parts.
