Orville EB-3 SG Short-Scale Bass 1996 MIJ

Orville was Gibson's Japanese brand through the late 1980s and 1990s, and Fujigen-built examples like this 1996 EB-3 are widely regarded as some of the best Japanese production basses of the decade. It reproduces the SG double-cutaway shape in solid mahogany with the neck Mudbucker and bridge mini-humbucker pairing that defined the original EB-3 sound, deep, almost piano-like lows from the Mudbucker in the style Jack Bruce used with Cream, with the mini-humbucker adding bright, clear articulation, and the 4-way Varitone switch blending the two. The short 30.5" scale makes it especially comfortable for guitarists doubling on bass, and it shows honest vintage wear, with chipping on the headstock horn tips and several small chips along the bottom edges, but no fret wear and nothing structural.
