Morris B-50 12-String TF 1979 | Made in Japan |

Available now is a rare and ornate piece of Japanese acoustic history: a 1979 TF Morris B-50 12-string. Produced as part of the high-end "TF Series" (Top Factory) specifically for the Japanese domestic market, the B-50 is a masterfully crafted tribute to the legendary Martin D-45. With its striking 3-piece back and extensive abalone detailing, this guitar represents the pinnacle of Morris’s late-70s production.

This 12-string powerhouse features a solid Spruce top that has aged for over four decades, resulting in a rich, harmonically complex tone with massive projection. The distinctive 3-piece back—a combination of Rosewood and flamed Maple—not only provides a unique aesthetic but also focuses the low-end response, preventing the "muddiness" often found in 12-string dreadnoughts.

Feel and Playability

The substantial neck profile is designed to handle 12-string tension while offering a comfortable, stable grip for chordal work. This example has been maintained with a professional setup, featuring a comfortable action that makes it surprisingly easy to navigate for such a powerful acoustic. The wider nut width provides ample string spacing for clean fingerstyle or flatpicking.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition. This 1979 instrument has been remarkably well-preserved and presents in beautiful aesthetic shape. The only notable signs of use are very minor dents on the back of the neck, which are purely cosmetic and do not affect playability or the smooth feel of the satin finish. Structurally, the neck is straight, the bridge is secure, and the frets show virtually zero wear. It is a clean, collector-grade example of a high-end Japanese 12-string.
