Greco EG360G, 1973 (Japan)
This is a 1973 Greco EG360G in classic Goldtop finish, handcrafted back when Japan was giving Gibson some serious headaches.
It's got a super comfortable bolt-on mahogany neck that feels lightning-fast, capped with a gorgeous dark rosewood fretboard and framed by that beautiful, naturally aged cream binding. The fingerboard is spec'd out with those classic pearloid trapezoid inlays that look killer under the stage lights, and there is virtually zero fretwear, so she plays clean up and down the neck with no buzzing. Down on the body, the single-ply cream top binding pops perfectly against the iconic gold lacquer, anchored by chrome hardware, tune-o-matic bridge, and a wraparound-style stopbar tailpiece that keep your tuning and sustain rock-solid.
But the real magic is under the hood, it's still loaded with its original Greco-branded humbuckers (Maxon-made, as was common for Greco through this era). If you're chasing that authentic, woody, vintage growl with incredible dynamic response, these pickups absolutely nail it. It's got some honest player wear and a beautiful natural patina on the gold finish that lets you know it's spent the last 50 years doing exactly what it was built for.
Whether you're a collector chasing prime MIJ history or a gigging player looking for a bulletproof vintage axe with heaps of character, this Goldtop is ready to roll.
