Danelectro '56 U-3 "Selectomatic," 1998 (Made in Korea)
A 1998 Danelectro '56 U-3, part of the Korean-made reissue run that revived the brand in the late 1990s under Evets Corporation. Finished in silver/charcoal sparkle over the classic "coke bottle" semi-hollow body: a poplar frame with a Masonite top and back, wrapped in cream vinyl binding. Gold-tone tortoiseshell-look pickguard with the Danelectro "D" logo, and a bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays.
Three lipstick-tube single-coil pickups, Danelectro's signature bright, twangy tone, run through the Select-O-Matic rotary switch for six pickup combinations, plus a separate override toggle that bypasses the rotary and engages all three pickups at once. Six-saddle top-load bridge, Gotoh tuners, all original hardware throughout. Condition is excellent: neck is straight with no fret wear, and the only mark is a small ding on the bass-side binding.
