Sound and Tone
Original single-coils deliver that unmistakable bright, cutting tone β handles everything from funk to fuzz without getting lost in the mix, whether clean or driven. Positions two and four offer the signature Strat quack. The floating tremolo adds classic Strat shimmer and vibrato.
Feel and Playability
The one-piece maple neck with a vintage "U" profile feels substantial and stable. The 7.25-inch fingerboard radius offers classic Strat playability. Minor fretwear does not hinder playability. At 4.3kg, it is on the heavier side for a Strat, but that weight gives it excellent sustain and a solid, balanced feel. The floating tremolo is responsive and smooth.
Condition
Light pickguard scratches. Minor fretwear. Grey Fullerplast primer visible on bottom edges. Original hardware. Original floating tremolo fully functional. No structural issues. Recently serviced.
Background
The late CBS era (1965-1985) produced some of Fender's most distinctive instruments. This 1979 example represents the end of that period just before the early 1980s redesigns. 1979 Stratocasters have been played by notable artists including Dave Murray of Iron Maiden, Jimmy Page, The Edge, Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen and Mark Knopfler
