Greco VB-450 - 1979
Something to love
A fantastic example of the Greco VB, easily one of the best-value ways to get the classic Hofner-style violin bass feel and tone. This is one of the higher-end early models, and it shows — great build quality, light weight, and a very authentic response.
The bass features a spruce top with maple back and sides. The neck and body are fully bound. The bolt-on three-piece maple neck has a slim profile with a bound rosewood board and dot inlays. Tuners work smoothly, and the headstock looks beautiful.
The original Greco-logo pickup covers look excellent, and the bass delivers a warm, thumpy tone — especially with the tape-wound strings. Electrics, switches, knobs, all working.
Weight: 3kg
Condition:
Overall very good for its age. Some small dings and scuffs on the body and neck, light tarnish on the tailpiece, and a few marks near the controls and tailpiece area. Minimal fretwear. Missing its pickguard (arguably looks cooler without it). Recently cleaned, serviced, and set up — electronics and switches all working correctly.
Comes with a VB shape hard case, complete with vintage stickers.
A super fun, characterful vintage violin bass with loads of charm.
