Vintage American Fender Stratocaster | 1988 USA Standard Tobacco Sunburst
Vintage American Fender Stratocaster | 1988 USA Standard Tobacco Sunburst
Made in USA (Corona). Alder body. Maple neck. 22 frets. Includes original hard case.
The Fender Stratocaster American Standard (often called the "USA Standard") from 1988 represents a pivotal era for Fender. After a period of corporate transition in the mid-1980s, Fender revived American production at the Corona, California factory. The American Standard became the mainstay Stratocaster model from 1986 onwards, combining classic design with more modern playability compared to earlier vintage-style reissues.
By 1988, these guitars were well established and are now respected as "vintage-era" modern Strats often sought after by players who want US build with classic tone without going into vintage price brackets.
This particular example has been well looked after and is ready for its next player.

Sound & Electronics
Classic Strat clean to overdriven chime, thanks to the three single-coil pickups. Strong midrange and articulate highs typical of Fender Strat single-coils. The 5-way switch expanded usable tonal options compared with older 3-way models.
Feel & Playability
Comfortable neck with modern "C" profile, not as chunky as vintage reissues but not as slim as later models. 22 frets let you reach higher notes comfortably. The 2-point tremolo improves tuning stability and provides a smoother feel over older 6-screw bridges.
Built during a period when Fender U.S. quality control and construction were generally regarded as strong, solid hardware, good fretwork, and reliable electronics.
Condition
Nicks, bumps and fretwear consistent with age. Nothing major. Has been well looked after and all original. Ready to play.
