Yamaha Studio Lord SL650 - MIJ - 1977 - Black
Yamaha Studio Lord 650, made in Japan circa 1977. This line holds a notable place in Yamaha's history, particularly as part of their efforts to create high-quality Les Paul-style instruments. The quality on display is excellent on this guitar, with the excellent build quality and attention to detail that the original Japanese Yamaha Guitars were so famous for.
Featuring a solid mahogany body with maple top with some beautiful aged yellow binding. The rosewood fretboard on this guitar is stunning, it feels and looks so good with medium jumbo frets and lovely cream binding. All the hardware is original, with the gold showing off a lovely patina from age.
The sound of this guitar is excellent, definitely worthy of the ‘Studio Lord’ name. Given a full setup, this plays incredibly well with a great low action.
In good condition for a guitar of this age, with only minimal fretware present. There is a minor graze to the top of the headstock, with some scuffs surrounding it. Some small nicks in the back of the neck, not inhibiting playability. Minor finish wear to the body with some small dimples in the finish around the body.
We really can’t recommend this one enough, if you’ve been pining for a vintage LP Custom with the Japanese attention to detail and refinements, then this is an easy pick of the bunch!
