Yamaha L-5 Vintage Acoustic - MIJ - 1981 w/ HSC
This vintage 1981 Yamaha L-5 acoustic is in excellent cosmetic condition and comes complete with hard shell case.
Guitars made in Yamaha's Luxury or "L" Series were hand-crafted in Japan's Nippon Gakki plant. The series was first introduced in 1975 and made through to 1986.
This line was introduced to compete with USA-made Folk & Western guitars like Martins, but produced solely for the Japanese Domestic Market so they are not often seen outside their country of origin.
This L-5 boasts a Solid Spruce Top, giving it a beautiful resonance and richness in tone.
Having just received a professional service and set-up, the action is sitting at an optimum height off the fretboard and the intonation is spot on. Superb playability.
L Series guitars are still regarded as one of the best lines of acoustics ever made and this L-5 is a great example of just that.
The Solid Spruce top has 6 ply binding and sports a dark tortoise-shell, single-ply scratchplate. The laminate Coral Rosewood back and sides are fully bound. Bound one-piece V-profile mahogany neck with an Ebony fretboard. Pearl dot position inlays. Zero fretware. Some light playing ware on fretboard on the first and second frets. Factory bone nut and saddle. Bound V-shape headstock with gold Yamaha Japan vintage tuners. Ebony bridge. Beautiful design.
Tonally its rich, sweet and resonant with plenty of volume.
Cosmetically, this Yamaha L-5 is in excellent condition. Pretty incredible for a 1981 vintage acoustic. 9/10 overall. If you're a fan of vintage Japanese guitars, this Luxury Series Yamaha L-5 would be a perfect choice.
Comes with hard-shell case.
