Ryoji Matsuoka No. 20 Classical - MIJ - 1979

Ryoji Matsuoka No. 20 classical guitar made in Japan in 1979. Ryoji Matsuoka founded his company in 1959 after he had started making guitars following World War 2. The No. 20 was part of the Concert series and was handmade by Ryoji Matsuoka and his family in Nagoya. Being made for the Japanese domestic market, it’s quite rare to see one of these outside its country of origin.

This is a nice one; it features a spruce top with a tight grain to it, rosewood back and sides. Mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard and bridge. The original tuners show some cosmetic ageing but are still functioning perfectly. A real warmth to every note on this guitar; it projects excellently.

If you’ve been in the market for a beautiful old classical at a great price, then this is certainly one to consider. Given a full professional setup, there is still height left on the saddle. Comes with a case.

Overall, in great condition for a guitar of this age. Some bumps and grazes on the top and back of the body. Two thin lacquer cracks coming out of the top left of the bridge. The neck and fretboard are in superb condition. Zero fret wear.
