Mozztronics JD-1 JFET Drive
Mozztronics JD-1 JFET Drive Pedal
Three-stage Class A JFET circuit. No diode clipping. Smooth compressive dirt. Emulates a low-wattage amp. Hand made in Australia.
Want something a bit different to diode clipping overdrives? The Mozztronics JD-1 JFET Drive is the answer. The JFET is a type of transistor that operates in a similar way to a vacuum tube.
The Mozztronics JD-1 JFET Drive operates in pure Class A, using three stages of JFET goodness to accurately simulate an entire low wattage amp. There are no diodes in the audio signal path, and no diode clipping in this unit—just nice smooth JFET compressive dirt and overdrive.
This is great for crunch rhythm tones, and gives nice drive sounds when driven hard. It works great in combination with the TD-1 Tube Driver for a really smooth lead sound.
Suggested setup: Use the JD-1 before the TD-1 Tube Driver or EX-1 Expandrive in the signal chain. Set the JD-1 for crunch rhythm, and the TD-1 or EX-1 for lead. But there are no hard and fast rules—experiment with the order of your effects to find what you like.
