Gretsch Brian Setzer Signature - 6120 SSU w/ OHSC - MIJ - 1998 - Flamed Orange S
This Gretsch Brian Setzer Signature Model is simply beautiful, in fantastic condition and comes complete with its original vintage white hard shell case. This is truly a special piece.
Brian Setzer, known from great acts such as the Stray Cats and the Big Band Swing is arguably the most iconic rockabilly guitarist ever. With over 13 million records sold, three Grammy Awards and the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award in honour of his work as a guitarist.
This was manufactured in 1998, prior to the Fender take-over and in the Terada Factory.
Quite a rare signature model, there are not too many of these around.
This piece boasts a ton of unique features, most notably the deep orange stained, book-matched and flamed top, back and sides of the hollow body, and the custom dice volume and tone dials. Fully bound with cream binding, it's very easy on the eyes. The Slender C profile mahogany set-neck also features cream binding and feels great to play. The ebony fretboard has pearl thumbnail inlays and zero fretware. The headstock features a logo and horseshoe abalone inlay. On the truss rod cover is the "Brian Setzer Model" engraving. The hardware includes the USA Sperzel locking tuners, the Gold Tune-O-Matic bridge and Bigsby Patent tailpiece/ tremolo. The scratchplate is missing.
The guitar gets its mojo from the original pair of USA Patent Alnico magnet Filtertron pickups which sound incredible. The gold 'G' engraved Master Volume dial is a great touch. The three-way pickup selector and tone switches provide plenty of tonal variety. All electrics are working as they should.
Cosmetically, there are a couple of light blemishes and small dents dotted around on the top, especially near the right horn, a few light scratches on the back, a small ding in the headstock and some light lacquer hazing. Nothing affecting playability.
Professionally set up in-house, the action is low and smooth with great intonation and superb playability.
Weight: 3.1kg.
Comes complete with its original vintage white hard-shell case, two gold strap lock buttons and a certificate of authenticity.
