Fender Stratocaster - USA - 1974 - Hardtail - Sunburst
This 74’ Strat is a beautifully preserved remnant of the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll. Its age combined with the hardtail bridge makes this a truly unique classic piece.
The ash body presents a perfect weight, the maple one-piece neck has had a refret in the past with medium-jumbo frets which show no wear. The headstock features the iconic 70’s bullet truss-rod.
The machine heads have been replaced with Schaller tuners. The three-bolt back plate with neck tilt is a convenient and signature feature of this era. The hardtail bridge is of course the most interesting feature and is perfect for players seeking an authentic 70’s Strat sound without the quirks that come with a floating tremolo system. Ashtray bridge cover included in case.
This Strat has had a few mods including replacement pots and a five-way switch. The pickups are original and sound incredible. Bridge pickup appears to have been re-wound but original. The selector switch has been modified for unique pickup selections and can easily be modified back to stock or swapped out for a three-way.
The age of this guitar is not reflected in its condition. The body is pristine other than some small dings and scratches, incredibly the lacquer has survived perfectly. Some lacquer on the neck has come away where the frets and tuners have been replaced and the headstock lacquer shows some crackling. Incredible condition for an almost 50 year old guitar.
